Upgrd-Install Vault 3.1.9 to 5.1.2 from Win 2003 to 2008 R2

We have Vault Server Standard Ver 3.1.9 installed on a Win 2003 machine. Our company is upgrading to Win 2008 R2 Server... Win 2008 does not support Vault 3.1.9. So the best bet right now is Vault Server Std 5.1.2. But this will be like a new install rather then an update (or upgrade). What are the issues i will face. Do i need to copy vault logs etc from Win 2003 to Win 2008. But they will be all from Vault 3.1.9. Is all the History etc for vault saved in the Database Or there are logs and diff files or some other files saved on the Vault server that need to be converted and copied to Win 2008. And, If all is in the database then will just installing the Vault 5.1.2 server and client make it work without any issues by connecting to the old database.

All the history etc. is stored in the sgvault Database. Running the 5.1.2 server installer on the "new" machine will upgrade your 3.1.9 database to 5.1.2.

The following KB article should help you out - it discusses moving the Vault Server to a new machine:

I can't think of a reason to move the logs unless you want to reference them later. Let us know if you need any further assistance.
