Upgrading to Vault

Post by MK » Thu Dec 02, 2004 10:59 am

We have a database sized around 3 GB. To upgrade to Vault 3.0, as far as I understand, we just need to backup the SGVault database on Vault and then run the 3.0 install. There is no data transfer involved or uninstallation of 2.0.6 involved, correct? Also, if there is a problem with 3.0 and we need to roll back to 2.0.6, can we just uninstall and reinstall 2.0.6 and connect to the database or when we install 3.0 does database schema gets changed that it is not backward compatible?

Please advise.

Thanks.

All is correct, except that the DB schema will get changed after you install 3.0, so if there is a problem, you will need to restore the DB backup.

The right steps for rolling back would be: Uninstall the 3.0 server, then restore your 2.0 database, then install Vault 2.0 again, choosing to keep the existing database.

Where my database size isn't nearly 1/100th of yours, I'd assume it would be right around that time. I know mine only took a few minutes for upgrading and I had absolutely no problems.
