VS 2008 and Vault 4.1 Issues

Hello,

We just upgraded to Vault 4.1 and we just added a VS 2008 project.
In the plug ins we made enhanced client for this project.

For all our old projects (VS 2003 and VS 2005) we are using classic client.

In VS 2008 projects, when we are about to change a file it does not prompt us to CHeckout. And also if I change something in a file and then if I try to UndoCheckout. If I pick revert ... it will undo the checkout in Vault but locally those changes are still there.

Please let me know if I am mising anything.

Then enhanced client does not (yet) have the option to prompt you before automatically performing a checkout. If that feature is important to you, the only workaround today is to stick with the classic client.

Undo checkout should revert the changes locally in the scenario you describe. Does this happen every time? What type of file is it?

There are plans to implement this, but I can't say yet when it might ship.

Please add my vote to adding the prompt before check out. Its very common to make temporary changes in unrelated code to diagnose whats going on - especially if you are new to the code.

Can I also add my support for bringing the prompt back when checking out files. This needs to be reinstated in the next service upgrade.

This was a really bad design decision to take this out.

We definitely did underestimate the importance of this feature. Sorry about that. We didn't actually "take it out," however. Having this feature available in the new client is a matter of implementing it. We definitely understand now how useful and important this feature is to people, and it is a priority.
