How to share previously branched files in different folders

Post by gdenning » Tue May 16, 2006 11:13 am

I have a file called Dispatch.cls that is contained in two separate folders in SourceGear. It was branched some time ago, and I want to share them and overwrite one of the copies. I assumed that the way to do this would be to delete Dispatch.cls in one of the folders and then "share" the other copy into that folder. However, when I try to share the file, I get an error "Item $/Tailwind/CMS/Release_4_0/Dispatch.cls caused the transaction to fail: An item with the same name or object id already exists in the selected folder." Even if I "obliterate" the Dispatch.cls in the destination folder, I still get this error. How can I make this work?

The steps you outlined should work, and I wasn't able to reproduce it on a simple database.

What version of Vault are you using, and is there anything else about the folders you sharing into (or the files themselves) that make them non-standard?
