Only Admin can create a folder or branch

Post by selfgov2000 » Wed Jun 07, 2006 4:13 pm

I haven't been able to find where, as Admin, I can give individual users rights to create a folder or to branch.

What am I missing?

Thanks.

Vault security rights are R (Read), C (Checkin/Checkout), and A (Add/Delete/Rename). They are not currently fine-grained enough to allow or disallow individual operations.

A user with RCA rights can create a folder or branch. For details on command rights, see Vault Admin Tool Help->Reference Guide->Command Rights.

If I have misunderstood, and your question is about setting user rights in general, check the box for "Enable Folder Security" in Repositories->repositoryname-> Properties.

Then set security rights in the Users tab->Security or in the Folder Security tab of the Vault Admin Tool.

I had already done all but the last step on that. I have now done that, and still can't create a folder as myself.

What error are you getting, and what rights do you currently have at the parent folder where you are trying to create a new folder? (Go to the Folder Security tab of the Admin Tool, and select the repository and parent folder and then find your name on the right list box of users).

I have all three rights in all folders (check mark vs. green blob). I'm not getting an error. I'm just not getting a new folder.

Thanks,
Dave

Are the new folder requests going into your pending change set rather than immediately going to the server? Check the pending change set and also Tools->Options->Check In->Auto commit after each operation. If that is unchecked, operations such as Create Folder get put in the pending change set until you issue a separate commit command.

Thanks, it was in the commit list. I hadn't thought of that. When I did it as Admin, it happend then. I guess Auto-Commit is checked for Admin.
