sgvaultuser password

Post by btd » Fri Jun 30, 2006 6:02 am

How do I know what the password is for this user as it is is set by the system during installation?

Also, for my installation, the password in the web.config is encrypted and the SQL script to grant this user access does not ask for the password.

So what is the initial password for this user? Can i Cnage it? If so, I'll need some utility to encrypt the password as the password is encrypted in the web.coinfig?

Is there a tool that I can use to decrypt the password?

Thanks

Tom

The password for sgvaultuser is the same password you created for the Vault Admin user during installation.

If you need to change this password for the user in SQL Server for some reason, you can also change it in the Vault web.config file by changing "PWD" to "Password" in the connect string, then typing the password.

OK but for us, we have to be SOX compliant and thus the password needs to be encrypted and can't be cleartext.

This is how it is set up right now. During the initial install of Valut, Vault encrypted the password for me with some internal mechanism.

If I change the password, I will need the tool to encrypt the change.
Can you tell me how to do this?

I will need the tool to encrypt the change.
I'm not sure that we make this available separately.

One option is to uninstall Vault, keeping the database. Then reinstall. The password you create for Admin during the installation will be encrypted in the web.config file. Then if you want to use a different password for the Vault Admin, you can change the Vault Admin password in the Vault Admin Tool under the Users->Edit User tab.
