VS 2008

Post by BradleyUffner » Mon Nov 19, 2007 11:49 am

Visual Studio 2008 is officially RTM (http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/vstudio/default.aspx) and available for download.

Is there a version of Vault that works with it yet?

VS 2008 support coming soon...

Post by paulroub » Mon Nov 19, 2007 2:52 pm

The upcoming Vault 4.1 beta fully supports VS 2K8 -- the public beta is coming up very, very soon.

Earlier versions of Vault will work with VS 2008 via the older (MSSCCI) IDE client.

Earlier versions

I'm using an earlier version (3.1.9) with MSSCCI and while checkouts and certain functions work in VS2008, Compare Versions results in an access error every time.

I tested VS 2008 Beta 2 w/ Vault 3.5.3 on a VM I had handy. Every thing I tested checks out. Add To Source Control, Get, History, Rename, Delete and Compare Versions.

I don't really know if its the age of the version of Vault you are using or a configuration issue, but testing is still showing later versions of Vault working with the beta version of Visual Studio 2008. A test sandbox in with your project may shed more light.

Getting back to the matter at hand. We'll be testing Vault 4 and Fortress 1 against the VS 2008 RTM in the upcoming days.

Hi there

Appreciate your work on this - where and when will the 4.1 beta availability be announced?

Cheers

I don't have a definite date, but unless something terrible comes up in the final round of testing, it will be within the next 10-15 business days.
