Backup window never closes

Post by Xavier » Wed Sep 02, 2009 7:19 am

Hello

when backing up the database, the window that pops up never closes though the backup is finished (hopefully... I did not try to restore them)

What version of Vault are you using?

Was a backup file made?

Is your main concern that the window didn't close or that the backup may not be good?

5.0 (not 5.0.1)
I don't really mind about the window. It's mainly that I do not know how to check it and it would be easier to have it close than using another tool...

If you've been doing backups with the Admin Client and have concerns about them, I'd suggest restoring one of the backups to make sure all is OK.

You could do this on a test machine where you temporarily install Vault Or in down time, use SQL Server tools to backup your production database or detach and move your Vault databases to a safe location then restore one of the backups.

Better to know now than when you have critical need of a good backup.

Are there any errors in your Vault server log during the backup that may indicate there's a problem with the backup process?

OK the backup is good.

Do you reproduce the bug ? Can you fix it ? It would be really comforting and faster for a backup operation !

The backup is dated september 2, 19:06, where the two smallest file are dated the same time (master, dragnet). The vault is 4 minutes later(19:10).
No errors, beside a user that tried to connect

I've tried with everybody disconnected (required a iisreset... though all clients/VS were down some users were stilled noted as 'logged in')

We have not been able to reproduce this. It may be something specific to your configuration.

What version of Fortress are you using, what OS is the Fortress server installed on, and what version of SQL Server are you using?

Are you using Windows authentication or SQL Server authentication for the Fortress connection to the database?

Is SQL Server on the same machine or on a different machine?

What web browser are you using when you do the backup, and what version?

How large are each of your Fortress databases -- sgvault, sgdragnet and sgmaster?

What version of Fortress are you using, what OS is the Fortress server installed on, and what version of SQL Server are you using?
=>5.0.1, Windows Server 2008, SQL Server 2005sp3

Are you using Windows authentication or SQL Server authentication for the Fortress connection to the database?
=>? SQL I guess :) How can one know ?

Is SQL Server on the same machine or on a different machine?
The same

What web browser are you using when you do the backup, and what version?
Firefox latest

How large are each of your Fortress databases -- sgvault, sgdragnet and sgmaster?
2 145MB, 9MB, 2MB

As I've some issues with also clouds. There might be some configuration/install/... issues. I'm really reluctant to reinstall the server or fortress (as it was really difficult), but I wonder if this wouldn't be a solution. It seems there might be something wrong here (french ;-) ? ).. That's why I suggested a sharedview (not before next week) for clouds, and may be this issue, if it helps.
