Shadow Folders Headache

Post by topcats » Fri Sep 17, 2004 10:34 am

Firstly is does not appear to be creating the folders at all.

I have created a new couple and it not work :(.

It is propigating over a UNC, but the web config has been set to impersonate.

Have version of vault: 2.0.6.2219

Secondly, a Feature request.
A PUSH feature for the shadow folders.
That cleans out the old contents totally (maybe a tick option).
Then replaces with current version.

We sincerely apologize for the delay in answering your questions.

What OS is the Server on? Are you getting any errors when you configure the shadow folder? Are there any errors logged to the shadow folder log file (VaultShadowFolderService.txt)? That file should be located in the shadow impersonation user's temp directory (%temp%).

Verify that the custom accout has the correct permissions as outlined in the following KB article:

http://support.sourcegear.com/viewtopic.php?t=188

Secondly, a Feature request.
A PUSH feature for the shadow folders.
That cleans out the old contents totally (maybe a tick option).
Then replaces with current version.
If I am understanding you correctly, Shadow folders should work this way now. The shadow folders should always reflect the current version of the tree in the repository.

The server is on Windows 2000 Server.

I get no errors when I configure the shadow folders, it browses the target dirs fine.

There are no errors logged.
There is no error log.

I think the network admins may have changed the permissions for the user account. Thou it can still login locally.
To the vault service machine and the target paths.

I will double check the permissions.

If you continue to have difficulties with shadow folders, email me (link at the bottom of the message) your phone number and I will call you. This would probably be easier to troubleshoot over the phone.

All fixed now.

i had to kill the aspnet application and specify the domain account.

This did used to work with the normal impersonate, but i guess some security permissions changed.

Thanks
