Error trying to restore

Post by ksduncan » Wed Mar 27, 2019 10:51 am

We are trying to do a restore of the database through Vault. Upon entering the password we are getting the following error:

Error: 500 Error on request BackupRestore.aspx/RestoreBackup.
There was an error processing the request.

Is this a password error? Is the restore looking for the password that was set when the backup was created or the current password?

Hello,

I'm going to need to get some additional information from you.

What Vault version are you using? Can you please email your Vault Server log to support@sourcegear.com?

Another option would be to try restore your backup using SQL Server instead of Vault.

Thanks,

Tonya

A follow-up:

The Backup/Restore admin page within Vault is a front-end to SQL Server, and only works if your SQL Server is configured to use SQL Server authentication. The popup you see is labeled with the "SQL Server Admin" password, which requires the password for SQL Server's 'sa' account.

If those conditions are not met or you wish for a more full featured backup-restore experience, it is recommended to use a tool such as SQL Server Management Studio. The backup files are stored in the default directory for backups within SQL Server.
