Unable to download project tree...

Post by invaderzog » Mon Nov 25, 2019 1:05 pm

When I connect using the SourceOffSite client (I have tried from more than one machine), it now times out after about 30 seconds

Connecting to development.wga.org:8080...
Logging in...
Login successful
Downloading project tree - this may be a lengthy process - please wait...
** The network connection to the server was closed. **

I believe this used to work -- I'm not sure why the behavior changed.

Here is the server log (various bits redacted) with logging turned to "ALL"

Hello,

We have a few questions we'd like to ask in order to troubleshoot the issue.

1) Can other SOS user's connect without experiencing this issue?

2) Can you please find out of anything has changed on your network?

3) Have you tried restarting the SOS server?

If the problem continues, please send your server log to support@sourcegear.com.

Thanks,

Tonya

1) No. I have confirmed this from multiple clients

2) I believe just the usual suspects (windows updates/etc). Visual Source safe direct seems to be fine -- the issue appears to be with the SourceOnSitte server.

3) Yes -- I rebooted the server earlier today.

I pasted in the log in the original message, but I will contact your support

For future reference, the cause of the problem was corruption in our VSS database. This was causing the SoS to crash (without leaving informative errors behind). Running a VSS repair operation resolved the problems. Thanks support!

For the hang or crash of an SourceOffSite Server when handling a request for a project tree, here is some additional information...
