Vault Standard 11 and Magic XPA Studio crashing

Post by GeorgeInfodata » Thu Jun 19, 2025 3:20 am

Hi there

We have recently upgraded our SC to Vault Standard 11 (from Vault Standard 5), which we are using with Magic XPA Studio (v4.11), and we are now experiencing crashing when closing and reopening project files after the initial connection to Vault.

The steps to encounter the crash are as follows:
1. Launch XPA Studio and open a project file (at this point all seems fine, it has managed to connect to Vault and I can see the checked out items within XPA Studio, and perform checkout/checkins all OK)
2. Close the project file.
3. Reopen the project file (while remaining in the XPA Studio), or open a different project file (within the same repo). At this point the behaviour seems to be 50/50, I'm unsure if it has actually managed to connect/remain connected to vault, sometimes I can see checked out items, others times the list is empty.
4. Close the project file.
5. Crash occurs

I have attached an example of the window event log entry, and the WinDbg "!analyze -v" output for the .dmp file (I can provide the .dmp file as well if required but I'm unable to attach it).

It's difficult to be certain if the issue lies with Vault or with XPA Studio. Obviously the main difference is the new version of Vault. I have posted this on both support sites.

The behaviour is the same both on Windows 10 and 11.

Kind regards,
George Stewart

Hi George,

Unfortunately, I am unfamiliar with Magic XPA and this doesn't appear to be a supported environment. It's possible Vault worked with it in the past but the newer Vault version may have some system requirements that is not available within this IDE (which is where I would probably start):

Thanks,
