Hello I am planning our upgrade from the existing server and clients running 7.1.0.32028 to the latest version 11.x. I will also be moving from the existing server on Windows Server 2012 R2 to Windows Server 2019.
A big concern is maintaining compatibility with older versions of Visual Studio.
Also a major concern is Shadow folders.
Any one have experience with this type of upgrade and any hints or suggestions?

I have copied below the Vault upgrade guide:

Please note that if you are upgrading from Vault 7.1 to 11, you will need to upgrade to 7.2.1 and then can upgrade to 11. Windows Server 2019 is supported on Vault 11.
If you would like to let us know which Visual Studio editions you are concerned about, I can let you know if they are supported on Vault 11.
If you are not moving your Vault/SQL Server, Shadow Folders should not be an issue during the upgrade. If you would experience an issue, please reach out for assistance and we'd gladly help.
