about popup too slow

Hi,

When the app starts, is starts with a popup. The popup takes a long time to appear. It looks like the delay is caused by an attempted connection to a network address. That address appears to be defunct, so the app waits for a network timeout before showing the popup.

This delay is disruptive to normal use. Is there a way to disable or remove that outgoing network request from the app?
