Hi,
I have installed Vault Pro on a new Win 11 notebook. It was able to make use of my Source Gear DBs from a previous Win7 machine running VS 2008 and I am able yo see the projects from the web client on the new machine. An impressive feat of compatibility.
However, the latest V11.1 extension does not install successfully in VS 2026. When I try to re-run the extension installer, It says it's already loaded.
If it makes any difference, on the new machine are Visual Studio 2017 community and express installations, plus the old VS2008 hanging around from the old-to-new PC move.
I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Could I get a pointer please?
tnx,
Paul

Hi Paul,
Can you please provide us with more information in regards to the following: "However, the latest V11.1 extension does not install successfully in VS 2026"? In what way does it fail?
Thanks,
Tonya

Re: Vault Pro on Visual Studio 2006 Community
When i run the 11.1 install .vsix file, it churns for a bit then says in a dialog it's already installed.
However, in VS2026 there are no signs in the menus of Vault source control being available (e.g. "Add Solution To source control...", Show History, etc). The only menu entry is in View... "Vault pro work item tracking" which doesn't provide much functionality.
I searched through Extensions for a match to "vault" but came up with nothing. If it is installed, I cannot see it.
How does the vsix install know it has to do VS2026, given 2-3 other Visual Studio installations?
tnx,
Paul

Re: Vault Pro on Visual Studio 2006 Community
I think it is a user error.
After installation, one must go into Settings and find source control. There, it's possible to drill down to a drop down where Source Gear Vault is available. After making that selection, all the usual Vault windows pop up and menu selections are available.
Sorry to take anyone's time.
Tnx,
Paul

Hello again,
No worries! Happy to hear that you discovered the hiccup. It can all be a bit confusing so it's understandable.
