Active Directory authentication: Basics still missing

Post by aluetjen » Sun Dec 19, 2004 6:00 am

Hi

I just tried AD enabled accounts. I didn't get it to work and log files didn't help me a lot, but that's another story. I know I will fight it, somehow .

However I was wondering why AD enabled accounts still require the user to enter a password at all! I mean one of the most easiest thing to do would be just using IIS NTML authentication? No password checking at all, single point of authentication, etc... Even vault service wouldn't be required to run under domain account and on remote sites I actually do a VPN logon to domain and everything would be done...

Why is it that complicated?

I've posted about this before at http://support.sourcegear.com/viewtopic.php?p=8926#8926

You are right, and I want to include auto-login in the future, but the AD as password verification mode will not go away.
