Another login problem

Post by TheSaint » Tue Jan 25, 2011 9:27 am

Hi,
When I try to login inside the Client (professional edition) I get the following error:

The Vault server could not be contacted to perform the operation. Your network connection to the server may have been interrupted. Please verify your network settings using the Options dialog under the Tools menu in the Vault GUI Client.Falha na solicitação com mensagem de erro:

</body></html>

What should I do?
Please, help me.

Pull up a web browser and try the following URLs and let me know your results.
http://<your Vault server name>/vaultservice
http://<your Vault server name>/vaultservice/vaultservice.asmx

http://<your Vault server IP address>/vaultservice
http://<your Vault server IP address>/vaultservice/vaultservice.asmx

If you have the website Vault was installed to configured to use a different port than 80, then you need to include the port number in the URLs like so:
http://<your Vault server name>:<port number>/vaultservice
http://<your Vault server name>:<port number>/vaultservice/vaultservice.asmx
http://<your Vault server IP address>:<port number>/vaultservice
http://<your Vault server IP address>:<port number>/vaultservice/vaultservice.asmx

Hi,

I've executed the suggested commands and everything seems to be OK. But I'm still getting the error message AFTER the login is validated (the client actually connects to the server).

I'm using localhost:

Do you use a proxy?

Are any other users having problems logging in with the GUI client?

If you go to http://<your Vault server>/vaultservice/vaultweb and login, does the web client log you in?

Open a Vault GUI client, cancel out of the login dialog, then go to Tools - Options - Network Settings. If you have a proxy, you would enter it there. What information do you currently have set in Network Settings?

Hi Beth,
No, I don't use a proxy. I only have a Firewall installed (Comodo) but it's disabled for testing.
The webclient is working and don't give me the error message.

Did you upgrade from Fortress, or was Vault Professional the first version of Vault that you've had?

When you are in the web client are you able to connect to the work item tracking?

Vault was the only version installed.

Anyway, I checked it to automatic login when the program is opened and the error message dialog is not shown anymore.
I've tested some basic functions (create e delete folders, add files, checkin, checkout, get latest version, create branch, merge) and the program seems to be working as expected. I'll keep you informed.

Thank you for the support.

Thank you for the update. Since nothing else has been posted, I'm assuming that's taken care of the problem.

Hi,

I am having the exact same problem running the client from the server or another computer. Everything appears to be working from the web interface but not the GUI client.

When you go into the web client, do you get a separate window asking you to login as well as the Vault login page?

Do you know if you have a proxy server on your network?

In your browser, your Vault address would be http://<your Vault server>/vaultservice/vaultweb. In the Vault GUI client, you would only enter in that part that matches <your Vault server> and not the http:// nor rest of the address. Are you just entering in the server name, FQDN, or IP address?

Is the Vault website using a port other than 80?

We do have a proxy server but it is bypassed for local addresses.

Yes, in the vault client I am entering only the FQDN, ie, devcomputer.mycomapy.com or ipaddress.

The Valut website is port 80.

Here is the message I get:

Unable to connect to http://192.175.xxx.xxx/VaultService. No server was found at the specified URL. Please verify your network settings using the Options dialog under the Tools menu in the Vault GUI Client. Web Exception: The request failed with the error message:

What do you see if you go to http://192.175.xxx.xxx/VaultService/vaultservice.asmx in a web browser?

Do you have access to the IIS logs on the Vault server? If so, seeing those logs should help.

Could you send an email to support at sourcegear.com (attn: Beth) with a link to this forum thread and the IIS Logs?
