Transaction failed on a checkin

I am developing reports outside our network on a laptop and need to email .rpt files back to myselft to get inside the network and checked into Vault. I checked-out file to local drive on pc inside the network. I then did a save as of the changed .rpt file and replaced on the local drive. Tried to checkin the changed version and got errors. Can't figure out how to get remote changes back into vault..

We'd like to see a copy of the Vault Server log that covers the time of the error.

It's called sgvault.log and is in %windir%\temp\sgvault on the server machine.

Send the log zipped up to support at sourcegear.com, Attn: Linda. Please include a link to this forum post.

Thanks for following up -- we didn't get your email, sorry!

I searched our support mail and our Help system, but couldn't find anything from a kim* (the email address you used to register on the forum.)

It's possible your mail system blocked the email and attachment.

Try sending an email without an attachment as a test to support@sourcegear.com, Attn: Linda. Please include a link to this forum post.

Just sent email with attachment and then another one without attachment. I can try and rename the attachment to .doc and send and then you can rename before opening to .zip if you don't get the attachment email.

I see this error in the server log:

According to the log file, the server thinks the file is being added. It's possible you tried to Add the file, and that failed, and you tried again, but the first transaction is still in the pending change set.

Check the Pending Change set tab in the Vault GUI Client for any duplicate entries on that file.

There are two entries for above mentioned file (both trying to add file) - should I undo or shelve the entries in Pending Change Sets to get rid of the problem???

I would suggest undoing one of the entries. Then try to commit the second one, if you still need the file added to the repository.

If you still get the error that the object already exists, then the file is already in the repository and you don't need either transaction.

By undoing the two adds I was able to checkout / relpace with new version in my local folder and checkin successfully. I will remember to check pending status from now on. Thank you so much for all your help - it was greatly appreciated.... :D
