Eclipse and Vault and Status Missing

Post by djeclipse » Mon Aug 01, 2011 12:44 am

Hello,

We currently use Vault Professional with Visual Studio.
We have also begun using Eclipse with PHP

I have installed the Eclipse plugin for Vault Professional using the
URL: http://download.sourcegear.com/VaultPro/latest/update

I created an Empty Repository called "My projects" in Vault Pro
I then created a new PHP project in Eclipse
I then Loaded my files into my Eclipse project
Chose Team > Share in Eclipse to share with Vault
A folder was created under the "My Projects" repository in Vault Pro
I then chose "Commit All" in eclipse
The files were then added to the Vault Pro repository

HOWEVER:
1. all of the files in the repository have a Status = Missing
2. The Local Version column is empty

When we CHECK OUT files:
1. The Remote version updates
2. nothing is entered in local Version
3. The status remains as "Missing"

I am unsure how to update the Status or local versions.

Any help is appreciated.

.

Vault and the Eclipse client look to different areas for some information. What you will want to do is set a working folder in Vault, the perform a Get Latest with the option Do Not Overwrite/Merge Later chosen. Then Vault will link to the files. After that, Vault should see when files change.

The Eclipse plug-in is able to run without the Vault GUI client at all.

Thanks, Beth.
I will give that a go this afternoon.

EDIT: just did this and it all worked.
so, really, i did not need to do it at all as Eclipse just workes with the remote copy? and I can just completely ignore the Vault client and never use it?

I also presume that I can then just ignore whatever status the Vault client reports? For example, teh status changed after working with a file in Eclipse to "Renegade" and then to "Needs Merge".

You're right, you won't need to use Vault for your daily work. What you might use it for is viewing folder history or if you create branches or merge branches. You can ignore the Vault status.

Do you have users who work on the same files at the same time?

thanks again for your reply.
In this case, using eclipse, no there is only one user.
Multipel users are using Vault + Visual Studio and they are workign fine.
