Upgrading Clients Only to 3.0.6

Post by bbrown » Mon Apr 11, 2005 10:22 am

Reading over the release notes for 3.0.6, it looks like most of the changes are to the client. The changes to the server--obliterate's faster and rollbacks don't work on checked-out files--aren't really that important to our development environment. Upgrading the server is *always* a hassle but the clients are a breeze.

Is there any problem with just upgrading the clients to 3.0.6? It doesn't seem like there'd be any client-side fixes lost, but the warning at the bottom of the release notes is scarily vague.

Thanks,

Bill

You should be able to upgrade just the clients without problems. There haven't been any changes to the protocol or any changes that required both client and server changes.

We always recommend running both latest (client & server), which is why the message is vague, but we understand that it is often difficult to upgrade one or the other, and in this case, it should work fine.
