Any way to link multiple 'bugs' to a 'feature'

Post by Jens » Wed Dec 28, 2005 7:51 am

I've just downloaded Dragnet for evaluation and was wondering if there is any way to link a bug to a feature?

Scenario: A project manager creates a feature item and assigns it to a developer. Once development of the feature is complete the developer assigns the feature to a tester. Is the tester able to raise (and link) multiple bug items for the single feature item? And can the project manager query the number of bugs raised against the feature?

There's no specific functionality for this. Some possible work-arounds:

--Depending on how significant that feature is -- an import tool, for instance, you could create a new category called "Import Tool" and log bugs with that category.

-- You can use link notation in the details when you log bugs against the new feature. The link notation would refer to the feature ID. Example: item:3374. Then you could query "item:3374" for all the bugs with that link in the description.

--Once the feature is completed by the developer, QA would then test. If bugs were found the item status can be reset to "open," QA can add a comment and continue to set the status to open until no additional bugs were found and the item is marked "verified."
