Need explanation of Undocumented setting

Post by jfuex » Thu May 20, 2010 5:11 pm

On the options tab under local files, what does the "Perform file deletes in working folders" option do. The option seems have been omitted from the help file for this screen.

When that option is checked and you perform a delete in Vault, the corresponding file on disk will be deleted as well. If unchecked, then when you delete in Vault, the file on disk (provided it's already there), will remain untouched.

I thought that is what it was, but I wasn't sure how that was different than the "perform repository deletions locally" option immediately below it. Is the one below it for ones that you've done yourself but not yet checked in?

One is for when you perform a delete and the other is for when other users delete files and you are performing a Get on the folder that the delete was performed in.

For example, if someone erroneously added 30 files to your project and into Vault, then when you Get, you would end up with those files. You wouldn't want every user to have to go through deleting 30 files, so one user deletes them from Vault, and the next time everyone else performs a Get, the offending items are removed from their disk as well.
