Re: requirements for host 0S version?

Ok. is there any issue with having the 3.5.3 client and the new client coexist on the same machine? Both Clients can co-exist on the same machine, but the 4.0 Client is configured to install by default to the same location as the 3.5 Client, so that it can update the user's existing server cache an...

This bug is only cosmetic within the SOS Server Manager. If you add all of your serial numbers, and then restart the Server, the Server will recognize ALL of your licenses even though they won't all be displayed in the Server Manager. All of your users should be able to connect. If you check your Se...

Re: New Version

What's the impact of .NET on the size of the SOS client, which hitherto was written in Java? I find it very hard to believe that SOS will be better in .NET as it was in Java, given that, from my perspective, SOS is (was) a perfect product. **--** Steve (who until now has nothing .NET installed anyw...

Re: requirements for host 0S version?

Hey, We have SourceOffsite server 3.5 running on a windows 2000 server machine. I am wondering if Windows 2003 server is a requirement, or do you just need to have .NET installed? It sounds like upgrading whoudl be as simple as installing .NET on the machine and then installing your new server. Is ...

Do the 4.0 Unix clients have all the new features too, or are they more like 3.5.3 versions that work with the 4.0 server? Are the Unix clients a totally separate code base? Obviously they are not .NET, but I guess they must not have been Java previously either. The 4.0 Unix Clients don't have the ...

Approximately how many total files are there in your 20 projects? Also, please enable verbose logging on your server, restart the server, and then connect again and open the solution. Afterwards, email me the complete log file (if you could also translate any error messages I would appreciate it :))...

When you say that VS.NET "loops through every file in the project", what do you see in VS.NET? How do you know its looping through every file?

We're considering a change to how the server reads the config file for the 4.1 release, but that is not for sure at this point. The main focus of our 4.1 release is our Unix clients. We're planning the release for late spring or summer.

When you perform an Undo Check Out on a file, do you select the file and then choose Undo, or do you select the parent project and then choose Undo? If you're just selecting the specific file, then I don't think VS.NET loops through all files by default. In that case, it could be an inefficiency in ...

Move should work in 4.0 (but not via drag and drop). There is a Move menu item under the File menu of the GUI Client. As far as automatically setting the working directory for added folders... sometimes users add folders from locations they don't want to become their working directory, so the produc...

The mssccprj.scc file should never be checked into source control. VS.NET excludes this file from Check In on purpose. That file can contain path information that is unique to each individual user and is not meant to be shared. When the second user tries to retrieve the new project that was added to...

Yea, that was actually a feature that we wanted to get into the 4.0 release but had to cut because of time constraints. There's a good chance we would add it in a future release.

No, there are no environment variables or registry keys that indicate when the GUI client is running.
